Rome, the madness of contemporary art invades the spaces of the Chiostro del Bramante

The Chiostro del Bramante presents from February 18, 2022 to January 8, 2023 the exhibition Crazy. Madness in Contemporary Art.

From February 18, 2022 to January 8, 2023, the Chiostro del Bramante will host the exhibition Crazy. Madness in Contemporary Art, curated by Danilo Eccher. On this occasion, never-before-seen site-specific installations by twenty-one internationally prominent artists will invade the outdoor and indoor spaces of the Roman exhibition venue.

The exhibition aims to be a path neither ordinary nor predictable, but a creative explosion capable of expanding, like Ian Davenport ’s pigment castings on the stairs, and of altering spatial perception, like Gianni Colombo’s environment. A violent shockwave that invades every accessible room, with strong expressive leaps between the works, from Alfredo Jaar’s neon, also visible outside, to the totalizing immersion of Fallen Fruit / David Allen Burns and Austin Young. More than eleven installations that will create an inclusive and participatory atmosphere, invading locales usually excluded from the routes.

Crazy, like art, rejects established patterns, escapes from any rigid framing, rebels against constraints: this is how Crazy wants to be too.

The following are the artists involved: Carlos Amorales, Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir / Shoplifter, Massimo Bartolini, Gianni Colombo, Petah Coyne, Ian Davenport, Janet Echelman, Fallen Fruit / David Allen Burns and Austin Young, Lucio Fontana, Anne Hardy, Thomas Hirschhorn, Alfredo Jaar, Alfredo Pirri, Gianni Politi, Tobias Rehberger, Anri Sala, Yinka Shonibare, Sissi, Max Streicher, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Sun Yuan & Peng Yu.
