The irony of the everyday in Elena Xausa's illustrations on display in Bassano del Grappa

The Civic Gallery of Bassano del Grappa hosts until September 20, 2021 the exhibition Elena Xausa. Coming Home: over 70 illustrations chronicle her first ten years of her career.

Until September 20, 2021, the second floor of the Civic Gallery of Bassano del Grappa hosts the exhibition Elena Xausa. Coming Home. The exhibition brings together more than seventy works by internationally renowned Italian artist and illustrator Elena Xausa (Verona, 1984) with the intention of retracing the first ten years of her career. Curated by Melania Gazzotti, the exhibition is part of the rich calendar of events designed by the City of Bassano del Grappa to celebrate the conclusion of the long restoration of the Ponte Vecchio.

In ten years of activity between Venice, Berlin, Milan and New York, the artist has lent his characters and style characterized by essential forms and bright colors, to major companies, newspapers and magazines such as the New Yorker, the New York Times, New York Mag, Die Zeit, Monocle, Rolling Stone and many others. Xausa reinterprets scenes from everyday life with irony, creating paradoxical juxtapositions and situations. In his work he draws inspiration from different fields, from fashion to design, from popular culture to contemporary art. The result is a strongly international language, seemingly simple but at the same time very refined.
