Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old and must submit their applications by August 3, 2026, to participate in the Rolli Days and other city events.

The City of Genoa is launching a new public call for applications aimed at young cultural professionals, with the goal of strengthening the team of science communicators dedicated to promoting the city’s cultural heritage.A public notice has been publishedto establish a shortlist of experts and professionals from which the municipal administration can draw when assigning roles for the Rolli Days and major cultural initiatives promoted by the Department of Major Events and City Promotion.

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026. The initiative is being promoted nationwide and aims to further expand the pool of candidates by involving young people from across the country who are interested in putting their skills to work in promoting Genoa’s historical and artistic heritage. The call for applications specifically concerns the selection of science communicators specializing in cultural heritage, with particular reference to the UNESCO site “Genoa: Le Strade Nuove and the System of the Palazzi dei Rolli,” for which the City of Genoa serves as the lead member of the Steering Committee that coordinates its management.

The administration’s goal is to create a roster of qualified professionals to whom it can entrust activities involving storytelling, cultural mediation, and the promotion of the city’s heritage during the Rolli Days and other events organized by the Department of Major Events and City Promotion.

The science communicators project has now become one of the defining features of Genoa’s model of cultural promotion. Launched nearly ten years ago as an innovative initiative, it has progressively redefined the concept of cultural mediation, transforming the Palazzi dei Rolli into a meeting place between the world of academic research and the general public. Over the years, this approach has established itself as a model recognized even beyond Italy’s borders. The initiative has been presented at both the UNESCO Academy and numerous Italian and international universities and research centers, becoming a model for heritage promotion through the direct involvement of young scholars.

With this new call for proposals, the City intends to further consolidate this initiative, expanding participation beyond the borders of Liguria to attract expertise, professional skills, and new perspectives from across the country.

Highlighting the value of the initiative is Giacomo Montanari, Councilor for Culture, who emphasizes that the new call for proposals represents an investment in the future of the younger generations and in the quality of the city’s cultural offerings. “With this call for proposals, we are renewing our investment in the future of young people and in the quality of Genoa’s cultural offerings,” he states. “The role of the science communicator has now become a hallmark of the Genoese model: over the past ten years, this program has involved approximately 500 young professionals in the humanities—40% of whom come from outside Liguria—who are able to combine excellent academic training with strong communication skills, translating the historical and artistic complexity of the Palazzi dei Rolli into an accessible, fascinating, and rigorous narrative. This call for applications, open to young people from all over Italy, is a great opportunity to launch new careers in the cultural sector. “We want to highlight the skills of young professionals by offering them top-notch training, so that culture can increasingly establish itself as a concrete driver of employment and as a calling card for our city.”

The call for applications is open to young professionals, college graduates, and scholars in the humanities from all over Italy. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 40 (not yet 40) as of the application deadline. The creation of a shortlist will provide the City with a roster of qualified experts to involve in outreach activities during the Rolli Days and other cultural events that require specific expertise in communicating the city’s historical, artistic, and monumental heritage.

As mentioned, applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026. To view the full text of the public notice and the application guidelines, visit the dedicated page on the City of Genoa’s website: Public Notice for Science Communicators.
