From April 20-21, 2026, the Reggia di Venaria will host the 25th General Assembly of ARRE, a network that brings together 36 institutions responsible for more than 100 museum castles in 13 European countries. On the agenda are discussions on heritage management, conservation and promotion.

On April 20 and 21, 2026, the Reggia di Venaria will host the 25th General Assembly of the Association of European Royal Residences (ARRE), a network that brings together the institutions responsible for some of the continent’s leading castle complexes turned into museums. The meeting is part of a framework involving 36 institutions spread across 13 European countries, with a total heritage of more than 100 castles and historic residences open to the public. ARRE was founded in 2001 as a coordination tool between museum bodies and administrations that manage ancient seats of power and representation now converted into cultural hubs. The association’s role focuses on bringing together professionals in the field, sharing practices related to the preservation and management of sites, and coordinating joint initiatives among the different residences. The system collectively involves more than 50 million visitors each year.

The international network is based at the Palace of Versailles and includes among its founding members the Italian Ministry of Culture, represented through several national institutions. Italy also participates in the association’s governing bodies. The governing board is elected every three years and ensures geographical representation of the member countries.

Vice presidents include Michele Briamonte, president of the Consortium of Royal Residences of Savoy, the entity that manages the Reggia di Venaria. The Piedmont venue is hosting the main session of the 25th General Assembly. Presentations of the activities carried out by the individual residences and discussions on common strategic lines for the coming year are scheduled during the working days.

On the sidelines of the assembly is a program of institutional visits to some places in the Royal Residences of Savoy system and the Turin area. The stops include the Basilica of Superga, the Royal Museums of Turin, the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi and Racconigi Castle. The itinerary is part of a framework of direct knowledge of the main historical complexes that are part of the regional heritage. The signing of the renewal of the Framework Partnership Agreement between the Consortium of the Royal Residences of Savoy and the Domaine national de Chambord is also indicated during the activities planned in Venaria. The agreement covers mutual enhancement initiatives between the two institutions, both of which are engaged in the management and promotion of historic European residences.
