Planned from April next year is a lengthy restoration of one of London’s icons: Buckingham Palace, photographed by thousands of people every year.

The restoration will last 10 years and cost a total of 369 million pounds.

The work will affect the entireeast wing of the residence: some of the rooms that will undergo the makeover will be the Chinese dining room, the yellow drawing room and also the central hall, that is, the one from which the queen looks out every year for her birthday along with the entire royal family.

About ten thousand works of art are kept in the wing that will be restored: these will be transferred either to other rooms or given on loan to be displayed in exhibitions.
