Grazia Maria De Rubeis will be at the helm of the Ariostea Library: as of Jan. 8, she will take up her position in Ferrara as director of the Libraries and Archives Service of the city’s culture and tourism sector. The call for selection had been opened following the untimely death last May of Angelo Andreotti, who had long served in the field of culture as director of the Libraries Service in recent years and for a long time at the head of Museums.
From 2019 to the present Grazia Maria De Rubeis directed the historic Estensi Library in Modena; previously she was first an official and then director (since 2016) of the Palatina Library in Parma.
“Starting next Monday, Grazia Maria De Rubeis will take over as director of the Ariostea Library, succeeding the late Angelo Andreotti. The will of the Administration is to strengthen the design, planning and programming of library and archival services, including through the organization of cultural, didactic and educational events,” said Ferrara Mayor Alan Fabbri. “It will also be essential to develop and plan activities related to the improvement of services, innovating and improving those for users. Finally, attention will be given to the management of activities related to the preservation and enhancement of Ferrara’s book and documentary heritage. Best wishes for a successful start to the work go to De Rubeis.”
“Grazia Maria De Rubeis has a long and prestigious career in the field of cultural heritage, having directed the Biblioteca Estense Universitaria in Modena and the Biblioteca Palatina in Parma, as well as curated numerous exhibitions and publications on art and literature. I express my thanks to Dr. De Rubeis for accepting this professional challenge and wish her a fruitful work at the head of one of the most important cultural institutions in the city,” added Culture Councilor Marco Gulinelli.
