Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027: four finalist projects selected The winning city will be awarded a grant of one million euros.

The four finalist projects for the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027 have been selected. The jury, chaired by Lorenza Baroncelli, identified them from among the six applications received, favoring the dossiers that responded most comprehensively to the criteria of the call.

Entering the final stage of the selection are the following municipalities:

ALBA (Cuneo) with the dossier “The Wind Factories”

FOLIGNO (Perugia) in aggregation with SPOLETO, with the dossier “Foligno-Spoleto in Contemporanea”

PIETRASANTA (Lucca) with the dossier “Being Art. Or of the humanity of art.”

TERMOLI (Campobasso) with the dossier “Contemporary Trajectories.”

Public hearings of the finalist cities will be held on October 16, 2025 at the Ministry of Culture in Rome (via del Collegio Romano, 27). Each city will have a maximum of 60 minutes: 30 for the presentation of the project and 30 for direct discussion with the Jury. The Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027 will be proclaimed by October 30, 2025. The winning city will be awarded a grant of one million euros, earmarked for the implementation of the initiatives and objectives outlined in the candidacy dossier.
