Japanese cartoonist Leiji Matsumoto, the creator of Captain Harlock, has created a drawing to lend his support to the health emergency: it is a shikishi, a card with a white background, on which he has depicted the famous character with the words It’s going to be okay!!!

The drawing was auctioned on Ebay and was awarded, after 225 bids, at seven thousand euros. All proceeds will be donated to theMolinette Hospital in Turin, where the artist himself was hospitalized in recent months.

Matsumoto dedicated the work to the hospital’s medical staff, whose treatment enabled him to become well again. Giovanni La Valle, commissioner of the City of Health of Turin, of which Molinette Hospital is part, commented, “We thank Master Matsumoto for this laudable charitable initiative in favor of Molinette Hospital. This gesture confirms his great nobility of spirit, as well as the fact that he is a great artist, at this time of great emergency related to Covid-19.”
