New fee schedule for the Uffizi Galleries: in high season the ticket will cost 20 euros

Director of the Uffizi Galleries Eike Schmidt announced the new fee schedule that will start in March 2018. In high season, tickets will be 20 euros.

The Uffizi Galleries will increase the entrance fee during the months when there is an onslaught of tourists.

Director Eike Schmidt has decided to conform to the big European museums, such as the Louvre in Paris or the Prado in Madrid: according to the new fee schedule starting in March 2018, people will visit the Uffizi at the price of 20 euros (plus 4 reservation fee) in the high season, while in the low season, that is, from November to February, the price will be halved with a discount of up to 50 percent.

"We decided to use price as an active tool to manage flows and create usability but also to give value to what I call the ’Uffizi experience.’ With this measure, then, the cost of admission will depend only on the seasons and no longer on the exhibitions we organize because it is not fair for people to pay for the curators’ decisions. Our intention is to create the optimal situation for deeper and repeated enjoyment over time," Schmidt says.

He would draw inspiration for this move from American experiences, but also from hotels and public transportation.
