Utrecht will have its own Vertical Forest: under construction is the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest

In Utrecht, the Netherlands, the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest, inspired by Milan's Bosco Verticale, is under construction. The project is by Stefano Boeri Architetti.

Even the Netherlands will have its own Vertical Forest: the Wonderwoods Vertical Forest, inspired by Milan’s Bosco Verticale, is currently under construction in Utrecht.

Designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, it will be 105 meters high and house 360 trees, 9,640 shrubs and bushes, and 10,000 plants-the equivalent of one hectare of forest. Thanks to the presence of greenery, Wonderwoods Vertical Forest will absorb about 5.4 tons of CO2 annually. It will accommodate two hundred apartments of different types and for different users and 15 thousand square meters of office space.

Wonderwoods Vertical Forest will not be a simple skyscraper, but an urban tower that intends to make the necessary coexistence between city and nature increasingly concrete, while respecting and enhancing the characteristics of the neighborhood between Croeselaan and Jaarbeursboulevard.

The first plants have already arrived on the tower, already placed in the first days of May. It will be a true urban ecosystem, with thirty species of plants, inspired by the vegetation of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park, capable of producing about 41 tons of oxygen each year.
