Venice, Cini Foundation's restored Green Theater reopens to the public

Since April 10, the Teatro Verde, the open-air amphitheater of the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, has returned to the public after partial restoration.

Since April 10, the partially restored Teatro Verde, built by architect Luigi Vietti, has returned to the public.

The Giorgio Cini Foundation thus presents a new piece on the plan to enhance theIsland of San Giorgio Maggiore. Commissioned by Vittorio Cini and inaugurated in 1954, the open-air amphitheater can accommodate up to 1,500 people. During 2021, the theater underwent a major renovation project that brought its architecture back to light, enhancing all the qualities of the building materials, the surrounding botanical structure, the spatiality and the landscape views. The intervention, by the Cini Foundation, was made possible thanks to a partnership with Cartier.

Until May 1 it will be open to visitors in the context of Homo Faber Event, and from May 20 with the Cini Foundation’s guided tour program.
