Egypt: Italy Ranks Fifth Among Tourist Markets: +15.1% in 2026

Arrivals from Italy to Egypt are on the rise, reaching 461,059 in the first five months of 2026. The country will be a featured exhibitor at the TTG in Rimini from October 14 to 16.

Egypt reported an increase in international arrivals during the first five months of 2026 and also saw a rise in the number of visitors from Italy, which, with 461,059 arrivals, ranked fifth among the destination’s top markets. The data, released by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, shows a 15.1% increase compared to the 400,692 arrivals recorded during the same period in 2025.

These results will be the focus of the Egyptian Tourism Authority’s participation at the TTG Travel Experience in Rimini, scheduled for October 14–16, 2026. The Authority will be present in Hall A7-C7/409-507 with a delegation led by CEO Ahmed Youssef. Emad Fathy Abdallah, former Director of the Egyptian Tourism Authority in Italy and now Head of the Central Department of Tourism Offices, will also attend the event.

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in the first five months of the year, Egypt recorded a total of 5,193,270 arrivals from its top 15 international markets, representing an 8.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Russia ranks first with 1,063,704 arrivals, followed by Germany with 736,354 and Poland with 497,007. The United Kingdom ranks fourth with 478,677 arrivals, while Italy ranks fifth.

Growth was also seen in the other major markets on the list. Russia recorded a 20.2% increase, Poland a 10.5% increase, the United Kingdom a 9.6% increase, and Germany a 4.3% increase compared to the first five months of 2025. For Italy, the 15.1% increase brings the number of arrivals to over 461,000, confirming the country’s status as one of the main international sources of tourists for Egypt.

Participation in the TTG in Rimini is part of this strategy and will focus primarily on meetings with tour operators, travel agencies, and industry professionals, with the goal of strengthening existing relationships and developing new opportunities for collaboration in the Italian market. The event will also provide an opportunity to discuss with Ahmed Youssef the evolution of the destination and strategies aimed at international demand. In discussions with Italian operators, the Authority intends to present an offering that includes the traditional Red Sea beach destinations, as well as Egypt’s archaeological and cultural heritage, experiential tourism, and new offerings tailored to different segments of travelers.

“Italy represents a market of great strategic importance for Egypt, and the results from the first five months of 2026 are particularly encouraging,” said Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority. “The TTG Travel Experience is a key event for us to meet with our Italian partners, listen to market needs, and share the opportunities Egypt offers travelers today through an increasingly comprehensive and diversified tourism offering.”
