New lighting for Michelangelo's Crucifix of the Holy Spirit

Michelangelo's Santo Spirito Crucifix has been given new lighting to enhance it. The project funded by the City and Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze.

A lighting project to enhance Michelangelo’s Crucifix and the Sangallo sacristy inside the Basilica of Santo Spirito in Florence will be carried out with a €60,000 grant, €53,000 of which will be paid by the Banca Cassa di Risparmio Firenze, while the rest will be borne by the city administration.

After being relocated to the center of the sacristy (we talked about it here), now the Crucifix will receive new lighting with new LED light sources that will replace the current ones. This new lighting will not only be functional, but will also perform the task of creating accents on the focal points of the environment inside the sacristy without altering the balance of the environment.
Councillor Cecilia Del Re called it "a beautiful project that will allow the enhancement of a hidden treasure such as the Crucifix made by Michelangelo in his youth. It’s a way to give light to the work of a young and illustriousOltrarno artisan of the late 15th century, which we are sure will fall back on the whole Quarter, its workshops and artisans, arousing interest in the very sweet face of the Christ of the Oltrarno."

Luca Severini, general manager of Banca Cr Firenze, commented, "For Intesa Sanpaolo, a Group to which Banca Cr Firenze belongs, this intervention is a confirmation of its constant commitment to the area and all those values that have guided its choices to date. And culture is one of the main ties that Intesa Sanpaolo wants to continue to cultivate with constancy and determination."
