On the occasion of the ART VIEW Festival “Women in Art” at the City of the Theater in Cascina (Pisa) scheduled from Saturday, May 11 to Sunday, May 19, a festival dedicated to women who have managed, through their creativity, to emerge in the history of art, two events dedicated to Frida Kahlo, the famous Mexican artist, will be held on Saturday, May 18.
At 6 p.m. musical appointment with Madaus who will present their latest album Frida, entirely dedicated to the figure of Frida Kahlo with four original songs and four covers of Chavela Vargas’ repertoire. The concert is intended to be an unfinished journey that started in New York City, the colors of Mexico and Mediterranean sounds, bringing traditional songs, unreleased songs, roots and passion. Admission to the concert is free with reservations.
In the evening, at 9 p.m., Claudia Culpo and Manfredi Gelmetti will be on stage with Frida Kahlo Bailando a la vida: a theater and dance performance, directed by Manfredi Gelmetti. A journey into the tormented intimacy of the painter, her struggle with herself for survival, for the acceptance of a life marked by an incurable disease, by her tormented love for Diego Rivera. In this performance, dance will be the protagonist, witness and salvation of Frida, told by the director himself through words, music and flamenco. The viewer will accompany Frida through her cathartic journey, reliving moments of her earthly existence through the words and memories of Diego Rivera, El Panzòn. Tickets for the performance cost 10 euros.
The ART VIEW 2024 festival, organized by Fondazione Sipario Toscana with the contribution of Fondazione Pisa, and the partnership of Finestre sull’Arte, was created on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of La Città del Teatro di Cascina.
