Starting May 15, 2026, the Cathedral of the Image in Florence will host INFERNO - Immersive Experience in the Divine Comedy, an immersive exhibition inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. The experience will take the audience on a journey into the world of the underworld imagined by Dante, combining immersive storytelling, digital art and state-of-the-art visual technologies. Through projections, evocative set designs and interactive installations, visitors will be guided throughDante’s Inferno, following Dante and Virgil on a multi-sensory journey full of suggestions.
The project is a co-production of Crossmedia Group and Outdoor Factory. The artistic curatorship is entrusted to Sinan Turaman, while the scientific curatorship is overseen by Luca Azzetta, professor at the University of Florence. The initiative is the result of years of creative and productive development involving an international multidisciplinary team of more than one hundred professionals.
On the occasion of the immersive exhibition, the Cathedral of the Image has undergone a major renovation, with a new entrance and the opening to the public for the first time of the spaces of the Choir, where avirtual reality experience will allow visitors to experience a first-person journey: from 13th-century Florence to Dante’s Inferno. The VR experience, available exclusively with a VIP ticket, also allows multiple people to simultaneously share the same virtual environment.
Enriching the tour are evocative environments such as the Dark Forest, the Mirror Room and the Crypt, where it will be possible to explore the iconographic evolution of representations of Inferno over the centuries.
Designed for an international audience, Inferno debuts in Florence, but is planned for a global tour that will touch Europe, Asia and the Far East.
Open daily, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Cathedral of the Image. Also continuing is the collaboration with Opera Laboratori for reception services and with the Sillabe publishing house for bookshop management.
Tickets are available both at the Cathedral box office and online on the Vivaticket platform.
