Bergamo, watercolor illustration festival returns


From September 23 to 25, 2022, Bergamo will host the second edition of Watercolor Stories - Artefestival, Italy's first festival dedicated to the noble painting technique of watercolor illustration.

On September 23, 24, 25, 2022, Storie ad acquerello - Artefestival, the first Italian festival dedicated to the noble painting technique ofwatercolor, returns to Bergamo. After the great success of the first edition, the Lombard city proposes the second edition of the festival featuring watercolor expressed through illustration. The event is organized again this year in collaboration with I’Mm Spazio Cam - a cultural association in Bergamo dedicated to art and courses of various kinds - and Momarte, the online store dedicated to the world of art - and is open to all those who wish to learn more about this technique: enthusiasts, amateurs and experts, adults and children from 16 years old, artists or simple fans.

Twenty-five artists for three days of full immersion in the world of water colors: in fact, workshops, events, exhibitions, and signings with illustrators and authors are scheduled for September 24 and 25. A day completely dedicated to meetings with schools is scheduled for Sept. 23. Among the artists who have joined the 2022 edition, many confirmations and new authors: Andersen laureates Cristina Bellemo, Giovanni Manna, Sonia Maria Luce Possentini and then Antonio Bonanno, Silvio Boselli, Alice Caldarella, Candia Castellani, Cecilia Cavallini, Laura Cortinovis, Marina Cremonini, Gianluca Garofalo, Margherita Leoni, Laura Manaresi, Gioia Marchegiani, Lorenzo Naia, Chiara Nasi, Eleonora Pace, Anna Paolini, Roberta Ranieri, Richolly Rosazza, Roberta Rossetti, Valentina Scagnolari, Daniel Torrent, Noemi Viola, Daniela Volpari and Ilaria Zanellato.

On display are the works of Giovanni Manna and Sonia Maria Luce Possentini, winners in past years of the Andersen Prize, the most prestigious Italian award given to the best children’s books of the publishing year, their authors, illustrators and publishers. But that’s not all: also on display will be aspecial installation curated by Laura Cortinovis and Barbara Ventura, who will create a work on paper and watercolor, Michela Taeggi, who will be in charge of the photographic narration, and Michele Agazzi, who will be in charge of the sound experience. A group exhibition will also be set up at SpazioCam with a work by each artist present at the festival.

To host the rich program of the second edition always the city of Bergamo and some of its most evocative locations such as Seminarino, Circolino Città Alta, Teatro Sant’Andrea as well as the headquarters of the Cultural Association I’M SpazioCam, the starting point of the Festival and a meeting space known in the city to photography and art enthusiasts.
