Books, a large festival spread across Turin, Rome and Bari in May

Turin, Rome and Bari united for a large widespread book festival to be held May 21-23, 2021: the former with Portici di carta, the capital with Libri Come and Bari with Lungomare di libri.

Portici di Carta is the project of the City of Turin, produced by Associazione Torino, La Città del Libro and Fondazione Circolo dei lettori, with the support of Regione Piemonte and the participation of Turin booksellers coordinated by Rocco Pinto; Libri Come, Festival of Books and Reading, is produced by the Music for Rome Foundation and is curated by Marino Sinibaldi, Michele De Mieri and Rosa Polacco; Lungomare di Libri is the new event promoted by the City of Bari and the Region of Puglia in collaboration with the Book Presidia Association.

Although united by a single widespread festival, the three initiatives will maintain their own distinctive features and events designed for the three different cities in which they will take place. Common will obviously be the enhancement of books and reading.

“The book has deserved the utmost support from institutions during the pandemic,” said Culture Minister Dario Franceschini, “starting with the decision to include bookstores among the first activities to reopen even during the harshest lockdown period. For this reason I welcome the birth of a large widespread book festival, which for the first time brings together, in a systemic perspective, several important initiatives, called to work together to promote reading.”
