L'Aquila, Todi and Venice pay tribute to Beverly Pepper with dedicated festival

The first edition of the Festival of the Arts will be dedicated to Beverly Pepper, between L'Aquila, Todi and Venice.

In September, the first edition of the Festival of the Arts, an initiative of the Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation in collaboration with the City of Todi, will take place between L’Aquila, Todi and Venice.

This year the Festival will be dedicated to Beverly Pepper (Brooklyn, 1922 - Todi, 2020), an artist who passed away last February: the Foundation and the city of Todi wanted to remember her with a memorial dedicated to her career. Her sculpture park in Todi is artistic testimony of great value to world contemporary art.

On Sept. 12, jazz music will meet contemporary art atAmphisculpture, a 3,000-square-foot outdoor theater created and donated by Beverly Pepper to the city of L’Aquila.

From Sept. 18 to 20, sixty artists will take over urban spaces with installations, theatrical and musical performances, high craft achievements, and exhibitions spread across more than twenty different locations in the city of Todi, including the aforementioned Beverly Pepper Park, the first monothematic contemporary sculpture park in Umbria.

On Sept. 24, the Todi Columns, monumental works on permanent display at the court of Spazio Thetis in Venice will merge with contemporary dance and archaic music.

The Festival of the Arts aims to promote the development of culture, contemporary art and performing arts, supporting the emergence of urban stages against cultural lockdowns, and to enhance the territory through collective creativity for a cultural and tourism revival.

The initiative is in fact linked to the growth of conscious art tourism, with dedicated services, in an innovative exchange that aims to enhance public spaces through art.
