Positions of ******, a new festival of erotic photography and graphics, is born in Turin

Posizioni di ********, a new erotic art festival, is born in Turin, Italy: from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3, exhibition, talk and aperitifs to overcome taboos and promote dialogue on sexuality.

Turin is preparing to host a new exhibition of erotic graphics and photography: it is called Positions. The Ways of ********, and it is the first edition of an event dedicated to erotic art organized by Soluzioni Festival. From Oct. 29 to Nov. 3, in conjunction with Turin’s Art Week, the exhibition will be held in a former workshop, located at 55 Corso Palermo, a large and evocative space that, with its post-industrial style, is the ideal setting to host the works of photographers and artists of erotic graphics.

The main objective of Posizioni is to create an open and stimulating dialogue on erotic art, challenging the social and cultural conventions that still surround the representation of sexuality. Through a path that combines artistic exhibitions, debates and moments of discussion, it aims to create a space where the expression of sexuality is seen as a cultural enrichment.

The exhibition will feature ten artists including photographers, graphic designers and creatives, each offering a unique perspective on eroticism and the human body. Photographer Rebecca Dorothy, presents works that explore the perception of the female body through a bold and intimate visual language, the result of her experiences between Rome, Berlin and Paris. Her works blend visceral sensuality with authentic introspection, celebrating the imperfect beauty of the body and offering a free interpretation of sexuality. Alongside her, Marina Zaia ’s works focus on queer aesthetics and sex-positive themes, addressing eroticism from an inclusive and multidimensional perspective. A photographer and co-founder of APS L’Intreccio Viola, Zaia sensitively chronicles beauty in its many forms.

Thomas Ray, an internationally renowned graphic artist, will instead bring a touch of transgressiveness with his illustrations. With collaborations with VICE, Rolling Stone and Mondadori behind him, Ray unmasks taboos and social clichés through provocative and incisive art. Another prominent name is that of the BadSeedZine collective(Luca Marrazzo, Alessandra Pace and Marcel Swann), known for a graphic project that, since 2017, has been challenging media conventions with an authentic and subversive representation of eroticism, already in its sixth publication. Closing the circle of artists on display will be the radical design studio SenzaFuturo, which will present an innovative project: the chatbot “Godo,” an interactive communication system that opens new avenues for dialogue on contemporary critical consciousness.

The exhibition Positions will not only be an exhibition, but will offer a rich program of talks and meetings addressing various aspects related to eroticism and sexuality. Experts, popularizers and activists will explore sensitive and often overlooked topics in an open dialogue intended to stimulate reflection.

One of the most anticipated speakers will be Frida Affer, founder of Wovo Store and creator of Soda Party, along with Alithia Maltese, who will discuss the world of ligatures and BDSM. Malvina Rossetti and Matteo Baldin of La Cedraia Association will instead talk about sexuality in the age of parenthood, a topic often seen as taboo.

A space will be reserved for sex toys, with the presentation of the book “Sex toys. Discovering the objects of pleasure” by Le Sex en Rose (Morena Nerri and Ivano Messinese). The event will also include a sensory experience entitled “Pleasure in a Box,” an absolute exclusive for Turin. Intreccio Viola will give a talk on the Gender Gap, while Roberta Bruno, founder of a queer winery, will address the issue of job accessibility for LGBTQIA+ people.

On Sunday, sexuality will be explored from a natural perspective thanks to an exhibit curated by Giustino Ballato, president of the Piedmont Horticultural Association, who will talk about “plant perversions” and the ways in which plants interact and reproduce. This time will be followed by Speed Plant, a plant exchange organized by the Plant Exchangers.

In addition to the artistic and cultural component, Positions will also be a festive occasion. Each evening will end with an aperitif accompanied by DJ sets, organized by local collectives. Prominent among the events will be Primogemito, an experimental performance art show celebrating nonconforming identities and the eroticism of the spontaneous body. The Rythme Collective, active since 2017, will bring the values of freedom, inclusion and social struggle to the Turin scene, offering safe spaces for the expression of queer identities, with a focus on disco, techno and house music. Lustro, scheduled for Saturday night, will be a party dedicated to all subjectivities, promoting a positive, prejudice-free environment open to all sexual and gender identities.

The exhibition will be open from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3 with the following hours: Oct. 29 to 31, 5 p.m. to midnight, with talk from 7 p.m. and DJ set from 8:30 p.m. Nov. 1 to 3, from 4 p.m., with talks from 4:45 p.m. and appetizers from 8 p.m. Admission is reserved for members of the Positions Association, with online registration. The cost is €7 for a single day and €10 for a premium pass valid for all days of the event, which includes access to the talks and appetizers with DJ sets. The event is open to adult audiences only.
