On Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17, on the occasion of the FAI Fall Days, the new Stauffer Center for Strings, the most important international center of excellence entirely dedicated to string instruments, opens to the public for the first time. The historic Palazzo Stauffer building in Cremona has just been returned to the city thanks to the Stauffer Foundation and was inaugurated on October 1 in the presence of Minister Franceschini. It is the first international music center for higher education, research, composition, production, management and innovation, entirely dedicated to string instruments. After renovation and restoration work by architects Lamberto Rossi Associati, it is now possible to visit the palace’s spaces, spread over three levels with a total area of more than 2,000 square meters, along with its romantic garden.

The halls of Palazzo Stauffer have been embellished with an exclusive interior design project by Pininfarina Architecture: an intervention in which the aim was to reconcile beauty, technology and impact by grafting contemporary elements of refined design.

The Center runisce the existing Stauffer Academy and Stauffer Labs, new creative and innovation departments, as well as a concert hall, study rooms and lecture halls, a recording studio, a cafeteria and a guesthouse immersed in the romantic garden: thus was born a multifunctional campus, entirely plastic-free, characterized by a strong attention to environmental sustainability and the adoption of the most advanced digital technologies. A space for artists, faculty and students to meet and share, where they can express talent and creativity while fully respecting cultural and gender diversity.

“Palazzo Stauffer is a place of extraordinary charm, where history meets the contemporary. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the beauty of its halls, where internationally renowned masters and young talents habitually devote themselves to the study of great music,” said Paolo Petrocelli, general director of the Center
