The Peggy Guggenheim Collection opens its doors for free to Venetians and students for a week

From November 16 to 21, 2023, on the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of Health, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection will open its doors free of charge to citizens. Residents or those born in the municipality of Venice, residents of the 44 municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Venice, and students of the Venetian universities (Academy of Fine Arts, IUAV, Ca’ Foscari University, Benedetto Marcello Conservatory, Venice International University), will therefore be able to visit the museum’s permanent collection, the exhibition dedicated to Marcel Duchamp, indulge in a walk among the autumn colors of the sculpture garden, and take advantage of special reductions in the Museum Shops and Museum Café. Admission is by reservation (at this link) while spaces last. To gain access, you will need to show an ID or university card proving your right to free admission.

In addition to admiring the works on display in the temporary exhibition Marcel Duchamp and the Seduction of the Copy, the Venetian museum venue’s tribute to the great 20th-century master as well as Peggy Guggenheim’s friend and adviser, and masterpieces from the permanent collection at Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, during the week, daily at 11.30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., visitors will be able to follow in-depth talks devoted to Peggy Guggenheim ’s life and her connection to Venice, while at 12 noon and 4 p.m. two Art Talks will give the public an opportunity to learn about a work in the collection and the temporary exhibition, respectively. Also, on Sunday, November 19, appointment with Kids Day “Peggy Guggenheim’s Venice”: during the workshop, the little ones will discover the American collector’s love for Venice and have fun putting their manual and creative skills into play.
