After a first edition in 2023, on Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28, the symposium organized by Erpac FVG - Regional Authority for the Cultural Heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia entitled Contemporary Art FVG in Dialogue will be held respectively in the Sala Bergamas in Gradisca d’Isonzo (Gorizia) and at the Teatrino Franca and Franco Basaglia in the San Giovanni Park in Trieste. Curated by Daniele Capra and Lorenzo Michelli, in collaboration with the members of the scientific committee of the “Together/insieme” project, Angelo Bertani, Andrea Bruciati, Guido Comis, Lorenzo Michelli and Vanja Strukelj, the symposium aims to take stock of contemporary art in Friuli Venezia Giulia and the rest of Italy, with artists, collectors, gallerists, curators, art critics, journalists, teachers and public officials. Topics such as support for artistic research, training, transformation of operating methodologies, exhibitions and the development of international relations will be addressed.
The two days of talks open to the public will be closely related to the work of the scientific committee that is evaluating the more than two hundred entries of artists who have joined the Together/insieme project. Analysis of the material received revealed some critical issues related to the role of different institutions in enhancing artistic research. These include fundamental aspects such as training, structuring networks, and creating new projects and content. These are crucial challenges for a system that, although historically very active, now more than ever needs to open up to the international dimension in order to remain competitive and relevant.
The symposium is closely linked to the project for the enhancement of contemporary artistic research Together/insieme promoted by the regional Department of Culture and Sports activated in 2023 and that will result in 2025, in conjunction with the event of “Nova Gorica/Gorizia European Capital of Culture,” in a series of exhibitions at the Regional Gallery of Contemporary Art Luigi Spazzapan that will give great visibility to the rich and prolific artistic research in the region, as well as to the figure of the artist as a qualifying resource of the territory.
Admission is free, but registration is required through the link https://bit.ly/Together-insieme-Simposio2
