Valentine's Day: special tours of the Borghese Gallery on the theme of love

The Borghese Gallery is dedicating an entire week to love on the occasion of Valentine's Day and is organizing guided tours to discover the many facets of love represented in the museum's masterpieces.

On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the Borghese Gallery in Rome is dedicating an entire week to the theme oflove, from Feb. 12 to 18, and is organizing a program of special initiatives to celebrate the festival of lovers.

Every day at 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., the museum venue will offer a guided tour to discover the tales of love found in the masterpieces of the picture gallery, located on the second floor: from the overwhelming passion between Venus and Adonis to the deceptions devised by Jupiter, from the sensuality of Lucina to the mystical wedding allegories of Titian. An itinerary that will show how artists celebrated love in their masterpieces. In fact, many paintings preserved at the Borghese Gallery represent the many facets of amorous feeling and erotic desire: depictions of Venus and other deities, legends, mythological or fairy tales, portraits of the beloved, and stories of lost and tormented loves.

Tours will last one hour and will be in Italian.

On the way out, visitors will be able to walk through a gallery of flowers: the lovers’ walk. In addition, during the week of Valentine’s Day, visitors are invited to participate in a dedicated social contest. Just post a photo taken inside the museum by tagging @galleriaborghesefficial and #borgheseinlove: the images will be shared in the stories of the official accounts and the most beautiful one will be rewarded with a tasty surprise.

Reservations are required for Valentine’s Day week activities at www.galleriaborghese.it.
