An exhibition in Milan on female beauty from prehistory to the Middle Ages

From September 15 to December 31, 2020, the Alda Levi Antiquarium in Milan is hosting the exhibition "Timeless Charm. Female beauty in Milan over the centuries."

MiBACT - Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the metropolitan city of Milan presents Fascino senza tempo. Female Beauty in Milan through the Centuries, an exhibition curated by Alberto Bacchetta and Anna Maria Fedeli that runs from Sept. 15 to Dec. 31 at the“Alda Levi” Antiquarium.

The exhibition offers a journey of discovery of the female figure from prehistoric to medieval times, through a series of archaeological finds from excavations and discoveries made in Milan and its territory.

Jewelry and ornaments, toiletries and body care tools tell of how attention to one’s own beauty has always been a constant concern for the female universe, from the remotest antiquity, accompanying the history of culture and the evolution of customs and society.

A large part of the exhibits on display are the result of recent discoveries (e.g., the excavations of Line 4 of the Milan Metro) and, in many cases, are being shown to the public for the first time.
