Chagall at the ARCA exhibition center: big exhibition in Vercelli

From October 2026 to March 2027, the ARCA exhibition center in Vercelli will host an exhibition dedicated to Marc Chagall, a scholarly and international project with Arthemisia and Fondazione Iannaccone.

Vercelli is preparing for a major cultural season that will have at the ARCA exhibition center (a cultural space located inside the striking former Church of San Marco), with an exhibition program dedicated to Marc Chagall planned from October 2026 to March 2027. The project was created in collaboration with Arthemisia and the Giuseppe Iannaccone Foundation in Milan, with a scientific framework and an international dimension.

The artist, among the major figures of the 20th century, is internationally recognized for a pictorial language that traversed the European transformations of the last century, keeping memory, spirituality and a poetic component of human experience at the center. Chagall’s works, found in the world’s major museums and numerous international collections, have contributed to the definition of European figurative modernity. His work ranks among the best-known references in 20th-century art.

The project is part of the city administration’s cultural strategy, which aims to consolidate Vercelli’s role in the national and international exhibition scene. The itinerary continues the experience of the exhibition Guttuso, De Pisis, Fontana... Italian Expressionism, which registered about 11,000 visitors. ARCA is indicated as a space intended for dialogue between artistic tradition and contemporary languages. In this context, the collaboration with the Giuseppe Iannaccone Foundation also includes the exhibition of works of Italian Expressionism from the 1920s and 1930s from the private collection of lawyer Giuseppe Iannaccone.

“With this exhibition, Vercelli will reaffirm the centrality of culture as an engine of civil growth, a tool for dialogue between generations and a strategic lever for the future of the territory,” says the mayor, Roberto Scheda.“The decision to dedicate a major exhibition to Marc Chagall in Vercelli is therefore a very strong cultural signal: our city enters, with authority, the circuit of the great Italian capitals of modern and contemporary art.”
