Coming to GAMeC in Bergamo, for the first time in Italy, Daniel Buren's fiber optics

GAMeC in Bergamo will host from July to November 2020 the exhibition Daniel Buren. Illuminating Space (in situ and situated works).

From July to November 2020 the exhibition Daniel Buren . Illuminating Space (in situ and situated works), curated by Lorenzo Giusti, director of the exhibition venue.

Daniel Buren (Boulogne-Billancourt, 1938), a French artist famous worldwide for his environmental installations and textile works, will present on this occasion a series of new fiber optic works that will be installed in the prestigious context of the Sala delle Capriate of Bergamo’s Palazzo della Ragione (for the third consecutive year, the latter becomes GAMeC’s summer exhibition venue ).

Luminous fabrics, in which the geometric motifs characteristic of the artist’s research alternate, will occupy the center of the room, creating a path intended to be of great visual intensity, capable of renewing the surrounding environment through an unprecedented dialogue with the paintings and ancient frescoes on the walls. Presented for the first time in Italy, Buren’s fiber optic works constitute the most advanced outcome of an artistic research carried out for more than 50 years.
