From February 22 to March 15, 2026, the Civic Museums of Villa Paolina in Viareggio will host Equilibrium, a solo exhibition by Iacopo Giannini. The project, curated by Beatrice Bortoluzzi and realized under the patronage of the Municipality of Viareggio, proposes a crossing of the theme ofbalance understood as an existential condition, beyond any exclusively formal reference. The title refers to an inner dimension concerning individual experience. Balance is presented as a constant tension, as a threshold between fall and resistance, between limit and desire. Not an acquired condition, but rather a quest that accompanies existence and highlights its structural fragility.

Giannini’s work develops in a symbolic dimension that recallscircus imagery without translating it into literal description. The figures evoked refer to recognizable archetypes: the tightrope walker becomes a metaphor for contemporary precariousness, the clown takes on the traits of exposed vulnerability, the acrobat synthesizes risk as a necessary passage. Embedded in this tension between gesture and meaning is a reflection on the cyclical nature of human experience, which re-proposes conflicts and questions in different forms, demanding a more conscious gaze each time. The exhibition solicits a direct confrontation with the image. The viewer is called to measure himself with unresolved areas, suspended relationships, fears that resurface. The other, represented, acts as a mirror. Balance emerges as an ongoing process, not as a landing point. The unpredictable dimension of existence is intertwined with recurring dynamics, bringing attention back to what remains to be faced.

The opening is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. at the Musei Civici di Villa Paolina, Via Machiavelli 2, Viareggio, with institutional greetings and the presence of the Viareggio City Council’s Culture Councillor, Dr. Matteucci.
