Florence, four works by Picasso on display at Casamonti Collection

Four works by Picasso, from the 1920s to the 1960s, are on display in Florence at the Roberto Casamonti Collection through May 3, 2025.

The Roberto Casamonti Collection in Florence is relaunching its exhibition itinerary with an initiative to bring the great masters of the 20th century back into the exhibition. Beginning in February 2025, works from the collection will be periodically pulled from storage to be displayed alongside the selection of artists from the 1960s to the early 21st century currently on view.

The first event in this project will feature Pablo Picasso, with four works on view through Saturday, May 3, 2025 in the Collection’s rooms. The paintings, created between the 1920s and 1960s, will offer visitors a journey through the different phases of the Spanish genius’ production, highlighting the stylistic evolutions, themes and techniques that characterized his career.

A journey between the avant-garde and innovation

The exhibition dedicated to Picasso will be an opportunity to understand the complexity of his artistic research. With an endless production spanning more than seven decades, Picasso redefined the modern visual language, experimenting with forms, colors and materials. The four selected works represent as many moments in his evolution, offering an insight into his ability to reinvent himself and absorb ever-new stimuli.

The initiative is part of a broader context of the enhancement of the Roberto Casamonti Collection, which opened its doors to the public on March 25, 2018 in the Palazzo Bartolini Salimbeni, in Piazza di Santa Trinita in Florence. The building, a Renaissance masterpiece designed by Baccio d’Agnolo, hosts an exhibition itinerary divided into two sections: the first dedicated to artists of the early 20th century up to the 1960s, the second focused on later production. Born from the passion of gallery owner Roberto Casamonti, the collection hosts works by some of the most important Italian and international artists. Among the names featured are Boetti, Schifano, Mirò, Basquiat, Warhol, and Christo, testifying to a focus on the artistic currents that have marked the 20th and 21st centuries.
