In Genoa, the first edition of the Biennale Art and Environment

Until Sept. 15, the first edition of BIOFILIA, the Art and Environment Biennial, can be visited in Genoa, Italy, a project that brings together the beauty of nature and the inspiration of artists and photographers to remind us of the importance of safeguarding the planet.

Art and the environment, an increasingly important combination for the preservation of the planet. Against the climate catastrophe, the beauty of nature and its poetry open to new, unprecedented scenarios and become a source of inspiration for great artists, photographers, film makers.

Along these lines, BIOFILIA - Biennale Art and Environment, is destined to make the Ligurian capital a protagonist in the context of the most important challenge of our times, the one that sees humankind engaged in saving the earth.

Genoa, the city of Columbus, of the Lantern, of Baroque, of great poetry and pesto, will therefore be at the forefront with a major event dedicated to art and the environment and with actions that will not stop at the city context but will look to far more ambitious goals.

From July 15 to September 15, 2022, Genoa will host Biofilia, the first biennial dedicated to the encounter between art and the environment, a project that transforms the city into an open-air museum involving multiple locations between Villa Croce, Porto Antico and the palaces of the historic center. An exclusive setting in an evocative setting for an extraordinary event.

TheUN 2030 agenda, with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, expresses a clear judgment on the unsustainability of the current development model, not only on an environmental level, but also on an economic and social one.

Along the lines of the 17 U.N. goals, Biophilia represents an in-depth study of issues concerning the environment, the earth, and eco-sustainable development, through photographic exhibitions, art installations, meetings, performances, workshops and specific conferences. The profound union between art and the environment will make it possible to combine the power of aesthetics and communication with the most pressing environmental issues, making them usable at a very wide range of audiences.

The first edition of Biofilia is dedicated to the marine environment with 5 photography exhibitions in historic palaces, 7 thematic meetings dedicated to the sea, the land and eco-sustainable development, “site-specific” contemporary art installations inside the Villa Croce park and at the Old Port, workshops for children and students, and the awarding of the Biofilia prize to the best project for the protection of marine waters.

An all-inclusive experience, meeting in Genoa.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Goethe Institut Genua you will be able to attend numerous film and documentary screenings and participate in thematic workshops dedicated to environmental issues.
