In Rome, MAXXI dedicates a tribute to Claudia Gian Ferrari on the 10th anniversary of her death

MAXXI is dedicating an exhibition to Claudia Gian Ferrari (Milan, 1945 - 2010), a celebrated gallery owner and collector, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of her death.

With the intention of promoting, disseminating, and making accessible the art she loved most, she had engaged in major donations in the last years of her life to enrich the holdings of several public collections. In 2010, she donated to MAXXI 58 works from the collection originally housed in her Roman home in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. A gesture of great generosity and trust toward an institution that was then taking its first steps.

In a path that goes from 1970, with works by Pier Paolo Calzolari and Urs Lüthi among others, to 2006 with Bruna Esposito and Muhammad-Imran Qureshi, the Gian Ferrari collection recounts the ferments and trends of thirty years of contemporary art history.

The exhibition, titled Homage to Claudia Gian Ferrari, opens April 9 through May 3.
