In Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park, Christo's new floating work

In summer 2018, the public will be able to see Christo's new floating work in Serpentine Lake within Hyde Park: it is a mastaba.

Christo ’s new installation is coming to London, precisely at the Serpentine Lake within Hyde Park: again, after The Floating Piers on Lake Iseo, it is a floating work, which the public will be able to admire in the summer of 2018, in conjunction with the exhibition that will be held from June 20 to September 9, 2018 in the Serpentine Gallery.

The latter will in fact offer visitors an exhibition dedicated to Christo and Jeanne-Claude, in which the couple’s entire artistic career can be traced.

The floating work will be a mastaba, inspired by monumental Egyptian mound tombs to protect the bodies of the deceased from foraging animals, consisting of more than seven thousand barrels of oil, colored white, red and blue, on a floating platform of plastic cubes.

The installation will be large in size: it will reach a height of nearly twenty meters, just as wide and forty meters long.
The materials are environmentally friendly and some of them will be reused.
