Lucca, double exhibition on Cioni Carpi and Gianni Melotti reopens at Ragghianti Foundation

A double exhibition dedicated to Cioni Carpi and Gianni Melotti, which delves into the "adventure of new art," reopened at the Ragghianti Foundation in Lucca on Jan. 19.

In compliance with the dpcm of January 15, the Fondazione Centro Studi sull’Arte Licia and Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti announces the reopening of the double exhibition L’avventura dell’arte nuova | anni 60-80. Cioni Carpi | Gianni Melotti, which returned to welcome the public last Tuesday, Jan. 19, and is open until Friday, Feb. 19 inclusive.

Inaugurated last Oct. 2 and suspended since Nov. 5 due to the health emergency, the two exhibitions, curated by Angela Madesani and Paolo Emilio Antognoli, are dedicated to the Milanese Cioni Carpi (1923-2011) and the Florentine Gianni Melotti (1953), two particularly multifaceted and inventive artists, are united by the common thread of transmediality, creative daring and the exploration of different forms of expression during a period of great ferment in Italy, from the 1960s to the 1980s.

“We strongly hoped that the health situation and current regulations would allow us to reopen our ’Adventure of New Art,’ to offer the opportunity, to those who had not yet had a chance to visit the double exhibition, to do so,” says director Paolo Bolpagni. “Besides that, we want to give a signal of concrete presence and positive reaction in such a difficult and delicate moment. The year 2021 will have to be, for our country, a year of restart, and for the Ragghianti Foundation it will also be important because of its 40th anniversary, having been born in 1981. We have decided to offer free admission, in addition to those for whom it was already planned, to all health care workers (doctors, nurses, administrative and service staff): we owe them a great deal of gratitude, and this is a small but significant gesture to show it, thanking them for what they have done, are doing and will do to safeguard everyone’s health.”

The exhibition will also be exceptionally open on Mondays, as it will have to remain closed on pre-holidays and holidays, as indicated by the regulations contained in the new DPCM.

Following are the hours: Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays. As prescribed by the regulations, access arrangements will be restricted, or at least such as to avoid gatherings of people and to allow visitors to respect the distance between them of at least one meter.
