Switzerland's newest art production on display for the first time at MASI in Lugano

MASI in Lugano is hosting the 2021 edition of Plattform, an annual exhibition aimed at supporting emerging young people in Switzerland, from Aug. 22 to Sept. 5.

From August 22 to September 5, 2021, the 2021 edition of Plattform will be staged on the ground floor of MASI Lugano in the Palazzo Reali venue. For the 15th consecutive year, the exhibition offers an overview of the most recent Swiss artistic production, presenting a selection of artists who graduated in 2020 from art schools in all linguistic regions of the country.

For thefirst time in Italian-speaking Switzerland, Plattform confirms its support for young artists at a crucial moment in their careers. The twelve artists selected for this occasion (Lara Dâmaso, Adji Dieye, Samuel Haitz, Roman Selim Khereddine, Anita Mucolli, Angeles Rodrigues, Riccardo Sala, Sina Schöpf, Marco Simao, Stefan Tanase, Kelly Tissot, and Romane de Watteville) will present their new productions.

Curating Plattform2021 will be Marlene Bürgi, Martin Genton, Julie Marmet, Giada Olivotto, Noemi Pfister and Colin Raynal. The exhibition is held in collaboration with the Helvetia Art Prize, which will be awarded to one of the twelve participants.

In fact, since 2007, the PlattformPlattform association has organized an annual exhibition with the aim of supporting young people in visual art, to foster the dissemination and diversity of the emerging scene. Members of the association select twelve artists each year from among art school students who have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the year preceding the exhibition. After its founding in 2007 and nine years of exhibitions in Zurich (from 2007 to 2015, at ewz-Unterwerk Selnau), the exhibition series continues through the itinerant form, collaborating each year with new institutions, such as Kunsthaus Glarus (2017), Kunsthaus Langenthal (2018), Centre d’art contemporain d’Yverdon-les-Bains (2019) and Fri Art Kunsthalle Fribourg (2020), in different language regions.
