Fondazione Torino Musei has launched selection procedures for the Direction of MAO Museum of Oriental Art and Palazzo Madama - Museo Civico d’Arte Antica, in view of the expiration of the current positions, scheduled for early 2027. The selections, announced through a Public Notice, are aimed at identifying high-level profiles, with proven scientific, managerial and managerial skills, adequate to work in complex and articulated cultural institutions, engaged in the management of cultural assets of a public nature and in the use of public resources.
Management appointments will be for four years, starting in 2027, according to the respective selection notices. Applications will be reviewed by a specially appointed Evaluation Committee, while the results of the selection procedures will be communicated through the institutional channels of Fondazione Torino Musei. Applications, complete with all required documentation, must be submitted no later than 12 noon (Italian time) on March 30, 2026.
Those selected for the MAO and Palazzo Madama management positions will be called upon to implement the directives of the Fondazione Torino Musei Board of Directors, operating within an innovative and dynamic strategic planning framework and contributing to its concrete implementation through the definition and implementation of the cultural, scientific and management programming of the Museums. Leadership roles require high scientific and curatorial skills, complemented by strong managerial and organizational abilities, as well as aptitude for working in complex contexts. Directors will be entrusted with responsibility for the overall management of assigned resources and their enhancement according to criteria of efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability. Cultural planning, programming and control of activities, monitoring of results and compliance with the principles of transparency and good administrative action are also among the required skills.
The museum directorates will operate within the Foundation’s matrix organizational structure, which is divided into five cultural lines and six functional support areas. This organizational model requires capacity for coordination, integration and governance of processes, as well as constant cross-sector collaboration aimed at developing a unified and coherent strategy for the entire civic museum system. Finally, a qualifying element of the assignments is the ability to ensure the implementation of each museum’s Vertical Strategic Plan and its integration into the overall planning of the Foundation. This tool defines the lines of cultural, scientific, managerial and organizational development of the MAO and Palazzo Madama, in coherence with their respective identities, collections and the role of the two Museums in the civic, national and international context, strengthening their positioning and ability to operate as a network. The Vertical Strategic Plan constitutes the reference for annual and multi-year planning and for the evaluation of the results achieved.
