The works of three women artists enter the permanent collection of MACTE in Termoli

Molise's first contemporary art museum, MACTE in Termoli, is enriched with three new works by three female artists.

MACTE in Termoli, Molise’s first contemporary art museum, is enriching its permanent collection with three new works by three artists-Bruna Esposito,Sara Enrico, and Caterina Silva.

Cast Gold by Bruna Esposito (Rome, 1960) was first exhibited in the museum’s halls at the 62nd edition of the historic Termoli Prize, and the work had won the Visual Arts Section 2020-2021 edition. This was the context that led to its acquisition. The artist together with poet Paola d’Agnese made a performance in the museum space that involved the public and is now available as a video recording.

RGB (skin) by Sara Enrico (Biella, 1979) entered the MACTE collections thanks to the synergy with the Ministry of Culture’s Cantica 21 call and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The work consists of two large sculptures with a foam rubber core, covered with a technical fabric that adapts to the forms translates the canvas into new three-dimensionality. The artist created the work starting from the raw canvas and digitizing its moving image on the plate of a scanner, thus investigating the potential of the surface and the relationships between body, dress and space.

Moira / MÉ”jra / Mɔɪ.rÉ™ by Caterina Silva (Rome, 1983) was created thanks to MACTE Digital, the museum’s new project for a digital exhibition space in which artists and female artists present new works. It is an investigation of language, which seeks to lead viewers into territories where it is still possible to restore to the word the ability to describe and transform the world. Moira constantly changes form: from text to screensaver to virtual animation. The work lives on in the MACTE Digital archive on the museum’s website.
