Genoa Aquarium offers virtual dives in the tanks and Galata Museo del Mare shows off on the web. GenovaMoreThanThis launches #recountGenoa contest.

TheGenoa Aquarium remains closed to the public and staff are safely caring for the animals, but they are making visitors participate in their activities on social channels and the web by participating in the #iorestoacasa campaign.

It shares special events, such as the birth of a baby tortoise from Madagascar, and lots of trivia from the animal world. It also reintroduces the webseries Acquaria, which is intended to be a fun and humorous way to discover the secrets of the marine world, with backstage and in-depth insights from biologists.

The public will also have the opportunity to virtually immerse themselves in three tanks through unprecedented and innovative videos made with 360° underwater technology, in collaboration with StudioQuida Communication 360°, Carlo Da Gradi, a journalist contributor to the magazine Focus, and naturalist Francesco Tomasinelli. Sharks, manatees and colorful reef dwellers can thus be observed in the tropical tank. Thanks to extra content with graphic captions and picture-in-picture videos and interviews with experts, the videos will allow people to discover the different species they encounter during the virtual dive. The 360° videos, published one at a time on a weekly basis, can be enjoyed from all mobile devices.

The Galata Museo del Mare also offers stories, tales and curiosities from the museum thanks to the educational staff and the first edition of Meetings in Blue with special interviews.

Both the Aquarium of Genoa and Galata Museo del Mare are then participating in the initiative launched by GenovaMoreThanThis: a digital contest aimed at everyone to tell about the city of Genoa. It only takes a few small steps to participate: choose your best photo or video about Genoa, share it on social media by tagging @VisitGenoa and using the hashtag #raccontoGenova; the best images will be relaunched on the official @VisitGenoa profiles.
