A digital library for the autograph manuscripts of Giacomo Leopardi

An agreement signed between the University of Macerata and the Central Institute for the Unique Catalogue to establish a digital library of Giacomo Leopardi's manuscripts.

TheUniversity of Macerata and theIstituto Centrale per il Catalogo Unico have signed an agreement for a three-year scientific collaboration aimed at cataloging, digitizing and enriching with metadata the autograph manuscripts of Giacomo Leopardi preserved outside the National Library in Naples.

The agreement between UniMc and ICCU is part of the research project Leopardi’s Digital Library. Cataloguing, digitization and metadata of the manuscripts of Giacomo Leopardi preserved in the main extra-Napolitan autograph fonds of the University of Marche, which, in order to carry out the objective, has activated a doctoral fellowship for cycle XXXIV (academic years 2018-2021, with the scientific mentorship of Professor Laura Melosi, director of the Giacomo Leopardi Chair at the University of Macerata) co-funded by the Marche Region and the company Filippetti spa. The grant also benefits from the sponsorship of the National Center for Leopardi Studies.

The aim of the project is to establish a digital database of Giacomo Leopardi’s autograph manuscripts, which can enhance them by also creating thematic and semantic paths and allowing anyone to consult them in all their details.
