A month of ARCHIVIFUTURI, here is the full program of the festival

From June 7 to July 7, 2024, the appointment with ARCHIVIFUTURI restarts. Festival of Contemporary Archives, in an area between the upper Milanese and the province of Varese, up to the lakes and the Swiss border. This is a unique opportunity to explore the cultural heritage of the 20th and 21st centuries. Important contemporary artists have chosen this place as a reference point for research and their artistic production. In fact, the area is renowned for the presence of museums, foundations, house museums and archives dedicated to these artists.

The event, organized by the Rete Archivi del Contemporaneo, of which MA*GA in Gallarate is the leader, is supported by Fondazione Cariplo as part of Emblematici Provinciali - Switch on project. Live arts and community festival with the support of Fondazione Comunitaria del Varesotto. In this third edition of the Festival, new entities have been involved to promote the values of integration and cooperation between institutions, cultural enrichment and territorial enhancement, in order to consolidate and project the Archivi Del Contemporaneo network into the future . For an entire month, the Festival offers a rich calendar of events, hosted by important institutions in the area, such as the MA*GA Museum (Gallarate), the Bodini Museum (Gemonio), Il Borgo di Lucio Fontana (Comabbio), MIDeC Museum (Cerro di Laveno Mombello), Sangregorio Foundation (Sesto Calende), Casa Testori (Novate Milanese), Vittore Frattini Atelier (Varese), Missoni Archives (Sumirago), Morandini Foundation (Varese), Pagani Museum (Castellanza), Angelo Bozzola Foundation (Galliate), Enrico Baj Studio House (Vergiate), Volandia Museum (Somma Lombardo), Voltorre Cloister (Gavirate), Civico Museo Parisi Valle (Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca), MAP - Plastic Arts Museum (Castiglione Olona), Butti Museum (Viggiù), Agusta Museum Foundation (Samarate), Studio Mario da Corgeno (Corgeno di Vergiate).

On the opening day of Friday, June 7, MA*GA in Gallarate welcomes four events with free admission: the Masterclass "To the Rhythm of the Loom," included in the program of INTRECCI#3 to discover weaving and the Missoni style; the presentation of the “Proceedings of the Advanced Training Course for Archives of the Contemporary”; and the guided tour of the current exhibitions, with special attention to the reviews Vittorio Tavernari. I’d like to sculpt the universe, dedicated to the recent acquisition of the Tavernari Archive by MA*GA, and FASHION ILLUSTRATION, curated by theMissoni Archive and set up in the Ottavio Missoni Tapestry Room; the dj-set Prospettive Musicali Live, curated by Gigi Longo host of the historic Radio Popolare program. Instead, on Saturday, June 8, the ARCHIVIFUTURI tour returns, an organized bus itinerary to discover three art venues never before seen for the Festival: the Museo Parisi Valle in Maccagno, the Studio di Mario da Corgeno and the Casa Studio Enrico Baj in Vergiate. Educational proposals for children, adults and families are also interesting. Among them, Stories and Manufactures. Snack visits, Ombraluce, dedicated to sculptor Vittorio Tavernari and his archive, and the ceramics workshop for adults with the participation of Sara Dalla Costa. The venues of the entities involved will be transformed into stages ready to host music, theater, such as the concert by Duo Iberico, which offers an interpretation of pieces by contemporary composers from the mid-20th century to the present day. Events include that of Cesare Picco, a pianist and composer who presents his album Sky Tales; a musical walk among the works of art of the Sangregorio Foundation in Sesto Calende accompanied by pieces performed on Celtic harp, accordion and transverse flute; and the theater show Di Franca in Franca... comedy is woman that offers a journey into the world of Franca Rame and Franca Valeri, or and the performance of the Italian jazz ensemble We Kids Quintet.

In conjunction with the ARCHIVIFUTURI events, MA*GA is once again hosting the musical evenings of Estate all’HIC, the summer festival promoted by the City of Gallarate. This year’s program celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Treves Blues Band, features the symphonic opera concert Progetto Verdi with the Gallarate European Philharmonic Orchestra and the Corale Lirica Ambrosiana, conducted by Maestro Marcello Pennuto, and offers the show Un pianista sull’oceano with Lorenzo Bovitutti and the Placard Quintet of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The ARCHIVIFUTURI Festival was inaugurated in 2022 as one of the actions of the project Archivi Del Contemporaneo. Lombardy Land Of Artists. With the creation of the network Archivi Del Contemporaneo. Lombardy Land Of Artists (2021-2022), the foundations have been laid for a synergistic collaboration between entities, aimed at linking the museum and cultural institutions already active in the upper Milan area and the province of Varese with the artist archives, house museums and studios that can still be visited. The promotion initiative aims to enhance the territory, bringing benefits in the social, environmental, tourism and economic spheres.
