At BRAFA 2018 the rediscovered Rubens

A rediscovered painting by Pieter Paul Rubens will be exhibited during BRAFA Art Fair 2018 in Brussels.

A rediscovered painting by Pieter Paul Rubens will be on public display at BRAFA Art Fair 2018, to be held from Jan. 27 to Feb. 4 in Brussels.

It is"Diana and the Nymphs Hunting the Deer" made between 1635 and 1640.

This was known until a few years ago only through photographs, but in 2014 it was sold at auction by Sotheby’s in London as a painting made by a follower of Rubens.

Following the restoration, a number of studies were carried out that allowed us to note pentimenti and surface modifications made by Rubens himself.
However, according to expert opinion, it seems that the latter painted the three figures placed on the left side of the scene, while two other specialized artists finished the work.
