Journey to Italy through maps: the MiBACT flash mob

MiBACT is launching the digital flash mob Viaggio in Italia: a journey through Italy for Sunday, April 26, in collaboration with Enit and Touring Club Italiano.

MiBACT is launching a new digital flash mob for Sunday, April 26, in collaboration with Enit and Touring Club Italiano: Viaggio in Italia.

Through the hashtags #viaggioinitalia and #paesaggioitaliano, the social channels of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism will share a selection of ancient and rare maps belonging to state archives, libraries and museums.

The intent is to keep virtual visitors in touch with the wonders of their territory and to enhance and rediscover the techniques used to create geographic maps. The Touring Club Italiano, with a selection from its digital archive, will make available the secrets of cartography and the evolution of the graphic sign for the creation of the maps that have guided travelers along Italy for more than 125 years. It will be a journey through representations of Italy over the centuries.

The invitation addressed to tuttu is to publish throughout the day on Sunday, April 26, images of the places you are most fond of, perhaps looking for them on the many maps shared by MiBACT and the Italian Touring Club or in ancient atlases you have at home, in order to create on the web a journey through our country through paths, routes, tracks and ancient routes. The story will continue in the following days with insights that will be posted on MiBACT’s Facebook channel.
