The three works of art that had been stolen from the Magnani-Rocca Foundation in Mamiano di Traversetolo ( Parma) on the night of March 22–23 have been recovered: they included a painting by Paul Cézanne, *Tasse et plat de cerises* ( “Still Life with Cherries”), one by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, *Les Poissons* ( “The Fish”), and an engraving by Henri Matisse, *Odalisque sur la terrasse* ( “Odalisque on the Terrace”), with a combined value of over 9 million euros (6 million, 3 million, and 20,000 euros, respectively). The works had been stolen by a gang of thieves (at least four, according to reconstructions) who managed to break into the collection’s headquarters and quickly remove the pieces stored on the upper floor of the “Villa dei capolavori.”
The paintings were recovered by the Carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit in Parma during a series of searches authorized by the Parma Public Prosecutor’s Office following a complex investigation. At present, as reported by the *Gazzetta di Parma*, the investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
