Modenantiquaria becomes. Evolution: nine online meetings with industry experts

Modenantiquaria this year becomes Evolution: nine meetings in nine days with experts in ancient art to talk about great masterpieces and more. Here is the full program.

The fairs are still suspended because of Covid, and so this year Modenantiquaria, the great exhibition-market of high Antiques, for 34 years a traditional destination for art lovers, collectors, experts in the field in search of quality pieces for Museums and major international collections, goes online and presents Modenantiquaria Evolution, a rich schedule of live online broadcasts that, from May 22 to 30, will bring to the public nine events to talk about art, antiques and culture, together with leading experts in the field, with live broadcasts on Modenantiquaria’s website or on its social channels (as well as on the Facebook page of Finestre sull’Arte, which will broadcast all the meetings).

Modenantiquaria, sponsored by the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia and FIMA, has thus decided to... respond to the health emergency, with a high-level event. “Modenantiquaria has chosen a precise positioning, identifying an important space for the Italian and international market,” explains ModenaFiere director Marco Momoli, “it wants to be the reference event for a wide audience that has an interest in antiques, attentive, eager not only to admire but also to buy gratifying their love for beauty.”

As a preview to the XXXV Edition of the Exhibition, which will be held Feb. 5-13, 2022 at ModenaFiere, Modenantiquaria is therefore organizing an online event of meetings with the great protagonists of antiques: nine meetings in nine days to talk about art, antiques and culture. On the one hand, an opportunity to delve into the contents of the Exhibition, with the presence of the great protagonists of antiques, and on the other hand, the presentation of two major novelties that await visitors to the Exhibition next year.

The first novelty is the first edition of Sculptura. Italian Masterpieces from the Thirteenth to the Twentieth Century, a new exhibition section that will present the public and collectors with sculptural works of great value and suggestion: sculpture in recent times is experiencing a season of happy creativity, capable of arousing renewed market interest. Modenantiquaria therefore wants to be the most suitable place to learn about new trends, authors, proposals, and quotations. The exhibition, which will be developed on an area of about 500 square meters, will be characterized by an original path inspired by the glorious tradition of the Italian garden; every single work will be displayed and enhanced thanks to the arrangements designed by architect Ruggero Moncada di Paternò, who is in charge of the entire project. The works for the 2022 Edition will be selected by a scientific committee composed of some of the most accredited scholars in the Italian art scene: Andrea Bacchi, Aldo Galli, and Fernando Mazzocca. “This new exhibition,” says Francesca Moratti, head of Modenantiquaria, “will present the public and connoisseurs with sculptural works of such great value and uniqueness that we are convinced they will compete for ownership. Unique and priceless works that will create a new Exhibition within the Exhibition, the first in Italy dedicated to Sculptural Art.”

The second novelty is the significant renovation of PETRA, XXVII Exhibition of Antique, Decoration & Design for Parks, Gardens and Renovations, with the realization of a completely new project that will strengthen the meaning and identity of the Exhibition, unique in Europe for the proposal of antique objects of garden and outdoor furniture. The works of the galleries present will be selected by a scientific committee and harmonized in a context, with a setting of 2800 square meters of beautiful greenery and with a careful arrangement that enhances their uniqueness.
