National Day of Italian Historic Houses returns: more than 400 can be visited for free

The National Day of the Italian Historic Houses Association is back: on Sunday, May 22, more than four hundred exclusive places such as castles, fortresses, villas, parks and gardens will be open for free visits.

OnSunday, May 22, the national event that leads to the discovery of what is called the largest widespread museum in Italy returns: the National Day of the Italian Historic Houses Association. Also in this twelfth edition, more than four hundred exclusive places such as castles, fortresses, villas, parks and gardens will be visited free of charge.

The ADSI National Day is an opportunity to raise awareness among civil society and institutions of the role that historic houses play in the socio-economic fabric of the country. In fact, their induced activity generates a positive impact on many sectors: from the artisan sector, particularly restoration, to tourism (including restaurant services, accommodation activities and tours of the properties), from the conference and event realization sectors, from the agricultural sector to the wine world. Many are the professional figures that gravitate around a mansion, trades with ancient knowledge, such as artisans, restorers, master glassmakers.

The initiative is in collaboration with the National Association of Houses of Memory and Federmatrimoni and Private Events (Federmep) and has obtained the patronage of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and ENIT - National Tourism Agency. From this year, Media Partner of the event will be TGR.

There are numerous initiatives promoted by the owners for the National Day: from exhibitions to concerts and theater performances, to intercept the needs of audiences of all age groups. This year also sees the return of the photo contest in collaboration with Photolux: Shoot the historic mansions. Simply post your best photo on your Instagram profile using the hashtag #challengeadsi2022 and mention the pages @historic_dwellings_italiane, @photoluxfest and @weareigersit. Your shot could be among those selected to be displayed in a virtual exhibition on the ADSI and Photolux Festival websites: up for grabs for the overall winner of the challenge is a special visit to a historic home in his or her city of residence. Rules here .

Reservations open until 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21. To find out about the openings you can visit http://www.adsi.it/giornatanazionale
