A major exhibition in Casalmaggiore celebrates Giuseppe Diotti

From October 28, 2017, the Diotti Museum in Casalmaggiore will host a major exhibition dedicated to Giuseppe Diotti until January 28, 2018.

Casalmaggiore celebrates Giuseppe Diotti, an artist of late neoclassical painting, with a major exhibition.

The exhibition will be staged in the painter’s House-Museum from October 28, 2017 to January 28, 2018, and will present Giuseppe Diotti through some 100 works from the Brera Art Gallery, the Carrara Academy of Bergamo, the Civic Museums of Brescia, the Civic Museums of Lodi and private collections, including paintings, drawings and engravings.

The exhibition itinerary will be developed thematically, punctuating some of the fundamental stages of his artistic career: from his training to perfecting his studies under the tutelage of Antonio Canova, to his maturity during which he produced important decorative cycles and paintings related to sacred painting, to his final production with the Oath of Pontida, preserved in the Casalmaggiore Town Hall, and the Petrobelli altarpiece.
People will also learn about his activities as an art collector through an ideal reconstruction of his print collection.

Throughout the period of the exhibition, itineraries in the city and in Lombardy will be organized to allow visitors to learn about works that are usually little seen and places where the artist worked during his lifetime.

The exhibition is curated by Valter Rosa and is sponsored by the City of Casalmaggiore with the patronage of the Lombardy Region and the contribution of the Cremona Chamber of Commerce.
