Michelangelo Anselmi's restored Adoration of the Child on display in Milan

Michelangelo Anselmi's Adoration of the Child, from the Capodimonte Museum, is on display in Milan.

From October 1 to 31, 2018, Michelangelo Anselmi ’sAdoration of the Child from the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples is on display in Milan inside Palazzo Mezzanotte, headquarters of B.I.G.- Borsa Italiana Gallery.

The work was restored thanks to the Rivelazioni - Finance for Fine Arts project and the contribution of the ELITE program company EPM srl. The restoration work was carried out by the in-house laboratory of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte: the canvas had lifts in the pictorial layers, which risked causing color loss; the work was therefore subjected to surface cleaning and delicate consolidation of the color lifts and was protected by a protective frame that stabilizes temperature and humidity inside.

In addition to Anselmi’sAdoration of the Child, the Revelations project restored seven other works from the Capodimonte Museum: Tiziano Vecellio’s Portrait of Pier Luigi Farnese, Giovan Battista Salvi’sAdoration of the Shepherds known as Sassoferrato, Luca Signorelli’s Nativity, Bernardo Cavallino’s The Singer, Claude Lorrain’s Landscape with the Nymph Egeria, Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun’s Portrait of the Infant Francis of Bourbon, and Filippino Lippi’sAnnunciation and Saints John the Baptist and Andrew.
