Young Italians: after 50 years, a new survey of contemporary Italian art


Young Italians: an exhibition in New York fifty years after the original 'Young Italians' to investigate trends in Italian artistic research today.

From Sept. 25 to Nov. 1, 2018, in New York City, there will be an exhibition "Young Italians," a homage to the exhibition of the same name held in 1968 at theInstitute of Contemporary Art in Boston and the Jewish Museum in New York. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the exhibition dedicated to the young Italian art of that time, theItalian Cultural Institute of New York wants to carry out a similar investigation by means of 12 Italian artists, an investigation focused on the Italian artistic research of today, with the aim of supporting it and allowing its awareness in the United States reflect on its peculiarities.

The artists chosen are: Davide Balliano, Danilo Correale, Irene Dionisio, Antonio Fiorentino, Silvia Giambrone, Antonio Domenico Mancini, Elena Mazzi, Luca Monterastelli, Ornaghi&Prestinari, Gian Maria Tosatti, Eugenia Vanni, Serena Vestrucci. All of them are under the age of forty and were either born, raised and working in Italy or moved to New York. The exhibition is curated by Ilaria Bernardi and organized with Magazzino Italian Art.
