An auction in Milan on December 5 to support the people of Ukraine

A charity auction organized by Banca Sistema and auction house Art-Rite to support the people of Ukraine will be held in Milan on Monday, Dec. 5, at Palazzo Largo Augusto. On sale, among others, works by Linda Carrara, Maurizio Cattelan, Gianni Dova, Laurina Paperina, and Luca Moscariello.

Scheduled for Monday, December 5 at 5 p.m. is acharity auction in support of the Ukrainian people promoted by Banca Sistema, as part of the project Banca SISTEMA ARTE, in collaboration with auction house Art-Rite. The two entities join forces to support the project Salesians with Ukraine implemented by the nonprofit organization Salesians for the Social that coordinates thereception of Ukrainian refugees - mostly mothers, children and families seeking shelter - at Salesian homes spread throughout Italy.

The event marks the first occasion in which the banking group and the auction house are concretely working together following Art-Rite’s recent entry into the Banca Sistema Group with the acquisition formalized last Nov. 2.

The Salesians’ assistance project has been active since the beginning of the humanitarian emergency, but “after the first wave of generosity,” explains Don Francesco Preite, president of Salesians for the Social, “we now find ourselves in the need to continue to guarantee support to those who have had to resort to our help. The great challenge is to continue to welcome and guarantee children and young people a suitable, balanced and continuous educational insertion in respect of their possibilities and fragilities.” Therefore, the proceeds from the 48 lots in the catalog will go entirely to provide a home, meals and clothing, job placement support and suitable schooling for refugee families and minors currently housed at Salesian homes located throughout Italy.

The joint action of Banca Sistema, Banca SISTEMA ARTE and Art-Rite has made it possible to put together an important nucleus of works by emerging and established contemporary artists, including Linda Carrara, Maurizio Cattelan, Gianni Dova, Laurina Paperina, and Luca Moscariello.

Protagonists of the initiative will also be the Maialini d’Autore, works created as part of Banca SISTEMA ARTE, Banca Sistema’s nonprofit project that since 2011 has promoted the work of about forty young artists. Over the course of Banca SISTEMA ARTE’s more than ten years of activity, each of them has had the opportunity to personalize the banking group’s emblematic piggy bank with their own art, creating with their pigs d’auteur a marriage between the world of art and a collection now considerable from the most varied interpretations. On the occasion of this charitable proposal, numerous artists accepted the invitation to participate in the initiative by creating and donating a signature piglet.

This corpus was also joined by 17 works from the Banca Sistema private collection and the works of artists who, driven by strong sensibility, donated sketches, drawings and prototypes to help expand the auction results. The collaboration of Art-Rite has further enriched the catalog with works by contemporary and historicized artists from two private collections. The auction will be hammered in person at Palazzo Largo Augusto in Milan, headquarters of Banca Sistema, but it will also be possible to participate online after registering at https://www.art-rite.it.

The lots will be on display Friday, December 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., also at Palazzo Largo Augusto.
