Florence: New guidelines for visiting the museums of the institution that brings together the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze and the Musei del Bargello ( GAMB). A specific provision applies to the Orsanmichele church-museum, which on Sundays, between 12:20 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., remains open to visitors even while a religious service is in progress, provided that visitors behave respectfully toward the ongoing service. Another special rule applies to Michelangelo’s Secret Room, located within the Medici Chapels, where access remains limited and requires a reservation—a measure designed to protect the environment and the works housed there.
The new regulations are thus part of a broader initiative aimed at consolidating the GAMB as a unified museum system, capable of establishing common rules despite the diversity of the individual venues that comprise it.
