Micol Forti is the new director of the Mart in Rovereto: as of December 1, 2025, she will therefore direct the Mart and its locations, in Rovereto and Trento. She succeeds Diego Ferretti, director from 2020 to the present. The appointment of the new director, identified through a call for nominations by the Autonomous Province of Trento, provides for a term of no longer than the current legislative term (end of 2028), possibly renewable upon expiration (an additional five years).
A graduate of the University of Rome La Sapienza, at the same university Micol Forti received her Specialization and PhD in Art History and from 2001 to 2013 she was a lecturer for the chairs of Art Literature and Museology. From 2000 to 2025 she directed the Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art of the Vatican Museums. Since 2011 she has been a Consultant of the Vatican Dicastery for Culture and Education, and serves on numerous Scientific Committees of Museums, specialized journals, Research Institutes and national and international Juries.
He has curated international conferences and conceived and realized more than forty exhibitions including two Pavilions at the Venice Art Biennale (2013, 2015) and the 2018 Architecture Biennale. His research, collected in more than 130 publications, ranges from 20th-century art history and criticism, with particular reference to Italian and French art between the 19th and 20th centuries and the debate between church and contemporary art, to aspects related to museology, the history of art-historical heritage conservation, international contemporary art, and art photography.
