Do you want to spend a weekend in Berlin? Find out how ;-)

Want to spend a wonderful weekend in Berlin together with another person? Find out how by reading this article!

Never been to Berlin? Or have you already been there and would like to return? We are giving you the opportunity to fly there for a weekend, along with one other person, fully expensed by Warsteiner. And being local to them, they will certainly know where to accommodate you so that your experience will be the best possible. But how do you get a chance to win a stay in Germany’s ultra-modern capital? Very simple: by entering the Berlin Calling contest, organized by Warsteiner.

Berlin Calling

There is time from October 1 to December 31. The mechanism is very simple. Just log on to www.berlincalling.it and register with your name and e-mail: you participate by leaving a travel tip about the city. Once you register your account (it’s a one-step process: easier than that was not technically possible), a map of Berlin in Google Maps format will appear: you will have to choose the address of the place you want to recommend, write a title for your tip (that’s what, in English, travel tips are called in the contest) and a short description (there is a character limit, so be careful not to go too long). What place to choose and what to write about? Whatever you want. About the Caravaggio in front of which you went into ecstasy at the Staatliche Museen, about your moved memories in the Tränenpalast, or about the place where on a school field trip you hit on your deskmate but she finally went with your best friend. In short, the only limit is imagination (besides the character counter, which we are told is rather taxing, by the way).

Once your tip is published, in order for it to win the stay it must be among the top three most voted for overall. So it’s not enough to just write a tip and hope it makes an impression.... you have to make sure it impresses a wide audience of people. So call girlfriends and boyfriends, wives and husbands, relatives, friends, colleagues, the entertainers of the resort where you went on vacation, schoolmates you haven’t seen since elementary school, the mayor and the entire city council, the elders of your neighborhood bowling alley: the more people you can get involved, the better your chances of making your tip win. All it takes is for the voter to have a Facebook profile. If you want to bother even strangers to get even more votes, you can use the contest’s official hashtags to draw attention to yourself: #BerlinCalling #doitright #Warsteineritalia.

And if the posters you put up on the walls of your city to get votes fail to get you a place on the podium, the prizes don’t end! If you fall in positions ranging from fourth to twentieth, you can be entered into a drawing for two Weber Master Touch GBS barbecues equipped with a cookbook “The Weber Barbecue Bible” (for your most avid grilling) as well as five of the aforementioned cookbooks (without the barbecue, so you’ll still be smoking the neighborhood with your old grills soaked in sausage grease, but at least you’ll be cooking more original things).

If, on the other hand, you have a social life less eventful than that of a Byzantine anchorite, or you have written a tip so bad and rambling that not even your mother will vote for it as a favor, and therefore you will not even make it into the top twenty positions, the folks at Warsteiner have thought of you too: you can in fact vote for the tips already featured, because each week prizes will be drawn for everyone who cast a vote. So, to recap:

  1. Go to www.berlincalling.it;
  2. Register an account (just first name, last name and email: don’t worry, no one will report you to the police);
  3. Write a tip equipped with an address, title and brief description;
  4. Promote your tip by sharing it on social channels, perhaps using hashtags, and, if you also want to participate in the weekly draws, vote for the featured tips.

If you still don’t understand the process, you may consider seeing a specialist. If, on the other hand, you have it all figured out, run to www.berlincalling.it, where you will find the complete rules, uncork a 33 cl Warsteiner, read our article on Berlin to make you want to go there, and wait until January to find out if you won. Happy travels if you do, happy drinking if you don’t!
